| DESCRIPTION | | The Cederberg area can be divided into two regions: the coast and the Cederberg mountains. The coastal region includes the beautiful Elands Bay, a small bay at the foot of the Elands Mountain Range. Elands Bay is well known for its excellent surfing conditions and you will always find a group of surfers at the local camping site. Besides surfing, the bay also offers protection against the often huge Atlantic swell and is ideal for crayfish diving. To the north of Elands (as it is called by the locals) you will find Lamberts Bay, a small fishing village, which has also become a popular coastal holiday town. A seafood feast at the popular Muisbosskerm open-air beach restaurant is truly an experience you cannot afford to miss. But if it is mountains that excite you, then the Cederberg Wilderness Area is the place for you. Here you can explore several spectacular hiking trails and see some of the most amazing rock formations such as the Wolfberg Arch, the Maltese Cross and Lot's Wife. After a few days of hiking, the hot water springs at the nearby Citrusdal will surely relax those sore muscles. Or have some revitalizing Rooibos tea at the factory in Clanwilliam before taking the road to your next adventure.
