| DESCRIPTION | | The Breede Valley is home to the towns Worcester, De Doorns and Rawsonville. Toe get there from Cape Town you may drive over the Du Toit's Kloof pass. Try not to be tempted to use the tunnel as a short cut, but treat yourself to the beautiful mountain scenery. The discerning traveler will find the serene atmosphere a joyful experience. Worcester is the capital and largest town in the region and has a lot to offer. Attractions include the Worcester Museum, the Karoo National Botanical Garden, and the KWV Brandy Cellar, the largest in the world under a single roof. The Breede Valley is also well known for its excellent wine, and several wine farms offer wine tasting. A visit to the interesting cellar at the Slanghoek (Snake Corner) Estate near Rawsonville is highly recommended. On your way back from Slanghoek, visit the Goudini Spa, a popular resort developed around a warm mineral water source. If you are a grape lover, be sure to visit the Hex River Valley where more than 60% of South Africa's export grapes are grown. |
